Marvel Studios' Blade reboot, once set to star Mahershala Ali, spent years in development hell — cycling through three directors (Bassam Tariq, Yann Demange) and numerous writers, with its release date pushed repeatedly from 2023 through late 2025.
Disney quietly pulled the film from its release calendar in October 2024 with no replacement date, Kevin Feige has called himself a personal failure for not completing it, and Ali has said he has moved on from the role. No formal cancellation was ever announced, but the project is effectively dead.
